  • The spell's damage increases by 1d10 when you reach 5th level (2d10) and 10th level (3d10).
  • Prior to Patch 3 this spell did 1d6 damage and created a fire terrain effect. The fire terrain meant that this spell would usually do 1d6+2d4 damage: 1d6 for the bolt, 1d4 for the terrain, and 1d4 for the burning effect from the terrain. After Patch 3 the spell now functions like D&D 5th Edition in that it deals 1d10 damage but no fire terrain effect.
  • The verbal component has the caster saying "Ignis", Latin for "fire".

      This is definitely one of the best cantrips in the game, right next to Eldritch Blast, not because of the damage it does, but for the ability so set things on fire and explode things safely from a distance. Best example is Commander Zhalk and the Mindflayer fighting him right at the start of the game. You push Zhalks HP down to around 30, then put 4 Nautiloid Tanks near them, move your chars away and let Shadowheart blow the stuff up. Go in, loot them and get out the ship. EZ PZ
      All thanks to the always useful Fire Bolt cantrip.

        CORRECTION
        I'm looking at my level 10 divination school Gale's spell list right now. Firebolt does 3d10 @ 10th level. They've changed the damage advancement track for cantrips in this game.

        Similar changes were made to the other scaling damage cantrips.
        Produce Flame's hurl attack goes to 3d8 @ 10th level
        Eldritch blast gets its 3rd Ray @ 10th level
        Sacred goes to 3d8 @ 10th level
        Ray of Frost goes to 3d8 @ 10th level

          Theoretically you can do a total of 18-70 damage in one turn using sorcerer and this cantrip. This requires draconic bloodline of one of the fire varieties, the feat Elemental Adept: Fire, and use of one sorcery point on multicast. This also makes the damage bypass any fire resistance so its true damage if it hits. Needs to be tested but i dont see why it wouldnt work this way. Eldritch Blast looking a bit mid now.. lol
