Spells in Baldur's Gate 3 are regulated forms of magic energy. In BG 3, there are certain classes can cast spells to damage enemies, buff companions or create other effects. Wizards and Clerics have different sets of spells, while characters of other classes may cast a spell using scrolls.

Arcane Eye is even in the game, just not usable by PCs. It's pretty depressing for a divination wizard.

Can't help but feel divination gets totally screwed. The highest level spell is 2, and there are only two of them, and one of them is a ritual. That said, portent, see invisibility, and darkvision are ok... definitely don't feel anywhere near OP though.
