BG3 College of Valour Tips & Builds
- College of Valour Bards have a better survivability than College of Lore and and College of Swords, due to having both Medium Armor Proficiency and Shield Proficiency. This allows them to have better protection than the other bard subclasses.
- This Subclass, however, does not have access to a great ability like Cutting Words, and does not deal as much damage as the other ones.
- At level 3, College of Valour Bards learn Combat Inspiration. A powerful ability that buffs a single ally to add a +1d6 bonus to their next Attack Roll, Ability Check. Saving Throw, weapon damage, or Armour Class. Making it a very verstaile support cast
- At level 6, College of Valour and College of Swords Bards get an Extra Attack. Allowing them to perform two attacks during the same turn. This applies only after making an unarmed or weapon attack.
- NEW! - New Spells have been added to the Bard's Magical Secrets Spells List in Patch #1, released on August 25, 2023.

In resume this is the bard martial subclass, and sword college is the cool bard martial subclass.

I was enjoying Lore Bard but I got sick of enemy AI always focusing me because my AC was the lowest -_- Switched to fighter Bard and things are much smoother. That double dose of magical secrets and cutting words was nice though...

Don’t pick until they patch it. Valour bards inspiration is broken and stops working after level 5

Worth noting this subclass is great when multiclassing into paladin. Dip 2 levels to gain access to smite,10 levels of Valor Bard to get spellslots. You can gain access to Banishing smite through magical secret (which is a Smite Paladins can't get any other way.) And inspire your allies as a bonus action once you're done smiting.
Sword bard is better for tanking due to defensive flourish. (pick dueling + paladin level 2 again for the same reason which is gaining access to Smite) and the defensive fighting style from the pally.
