Bulette Boss Tips

Bulette is a very hard boss if you are not properly prepared and the fact that it can attack you randomly, make being prepared a tricky matter.

when you control the bulette you can open a combine panel with mushroom but couldnèt figure out what to do with it

Is there a number of burrows she must do throughout the underdark before she fights you to death? I managed to pull her into the hook horror + filro fight and also summoned lump, hoping for a crazy showdown. She just burrows away it's lame.

Not mentioned here is that the Bulette is resistant to non-magical Slashing, Piercing and Bludgeoning damage. If it ain't magical, it's taking half damage from your melee fighters. Also has resistance to magical and non-magical Acid attacks, so don't use that.

The bulette will talk to you and tell you to f-off if you inspect the "very deep hole" between the myconids and Baelan. You have to use Animal Speaking to do it, and you can't have killed it beforehand.

If you have a way to frighten him, like dissonant whispers, it's a huge help. Stops him from flying around and one shotting people.

A little fun fact: "Bulette" is also one of the German words for "Meatball".
So imagine the laugh my group had when a boss called Meatball rolled up and completely demolished us

Triggered it while walking down from the spot where the Drow Sword is stuck in the stone. Threw Grease bottle, minor illusion and spread the party during the first round of combat, where it is still under ground. Hexed its intelligence and it kept investigating the minor illusion while the rest of the party picked at it. Shot Ice Arrow for good measure. It never managed to attack us once as it either was prone or confused by a random cat. Missed the killing blow and it dug back down with 3HP left. did spend quite a few spell slots to max damage on it though.

Easy clap. Err provided you saved before hand and are ready for it. Don't have your entire party bunched up, don't stand on top of the rumbling.

Does it ever stop running away? I have no problems dealing dmg to it and having my party survive. The problem is just that it keeps running away and healing. Wondering if there's a limit to this or if I should just suck it up and waste a few barrels of explosives to burst it down

It was actually super easy, monk and assassin/bard and barbarian was a good enough combo to shoot down 1/2 it's health on turn 1. Then finished it off on turn 2. The party just made it into the underdark

Found a way to get the Soldier's Inspiration - Strategist; this one can be achieved... surprisingly easily. Well, I say easily, but you do have to work for it. When you get to the Underdark, and get into the fight with the Bulette, eventually. Instead of killing it, knock it out. Head back to camp, then return. Use your Soldier or Lae'zel to attack the KO'd Bulette, thus triggering the Inspiration. I'd guess this works on anything classified as a "Boss", including the Phase Spider Queen. That would need confirmation though. This involves... some serious, and I mean SERIOUS effort in attempting to NOT cheese the fight, pushing it(Bulette) off the ledge.

It's home is Underdark x17 y110, just outside of the Myconid Colony. Things super grumpy. Though, knowing what I know about Bulette's... and their sound sensitivity, combined with tremor sense... I'm not surprised he's super PO'd that you just yelled at him from his front door.

Has anyone found a reliable way to trigger Bulette to attack the party ? It ambushed my party three times (once close to when you first meet Myconids up north, then around the area where Zenth warehouse was, a bit further south past the minotaurs, and third time during the Hooked Horror Boss fight) and all three times i beat it up pretty good, but she burrowed and ran away, and I spent hours running around trying to provoke it , getting knocked by her as she passes, but she never attacks again, and it seems like i cant make it attack me in no way. I tried Aoe spells, throwing sxplosive barrels at it as she passes in turn-based-mode , she just receives 0 dmg and moves along.

Has anyone found a reliable way to provoke her to fight?

On a desk in the Arcane Tower there's a note on a desk called "Letter from Amarith" written to Lenore specifying that she tamed the Bulette in order to guard the area around Myrna's grave. Especially since you can speak with it through the hole in the ground just outside of the Myconid village, I am extremely curious whether or not you'd be able to pacify it somehow.

First time I did this fight I had no idea why the game auto-saved and I went into turn based mode. He jumps out of the ground and bam, two companions dead.
Second time, I had my party split in two, two with a very nice height advantage. Shadowheart used Mirror Image before Bulette jumped out of the ground (but after the ground started rumbling). My paladin got that little bit of luck as Bulette missed the attack on him. Two misses. Then everyone hit.

Think I used a bit of the ole Magic Missile on him, hit him with a couple arrows, and then Divine Smite to send him back where he came from.

You can find it's home and talk to it, if it's still alive and you have speak with animals active. He a grompy boi. Idk if there's extra dialogue or anything regarding him, but my best guess is if you're a druid, you probably have some special interactions with him.

Killed it quite easily by frightening it in the Hunger of Hadar spell and then just whacking at it, the armor sucks unless you use a barbarian (tank?)

He escapes and reappears with almost all life even if he is one touch away from dying. One hit kill. One hit kill. Absurd.

Well, I pushed it out of a cliff, pure luck since she was destroying my party. Should I regret loosing the loot ?
Btw I was level 4 when I killed it and she was one shotting nearly every single character I had and its random attack were hell. Was I underleveled for the zone, it felt ok until this monster.

Just killed it and got no loot ? is it normal ? (1st time meeting it, near the hook horrors, just kinda one turned it with a big smite so idk if i just jumped over a treshold for something)

                                            • Anonymous

If you kill it, you can resurrect it with one of Glut's abilities and it will be a follower as long as Glut's in your party.
